Top Directories List

Top Directories List
With so many changes taking place to the way Google is working, it has become increasingly difficult for search engine optimizers to figure out which links to consider, and which ones to not pursue, in fact link building is becoming an increasingly tedious and time consuming task, so much so that even search engine optimisers have started turning to third party firms to carry out their link building. Today there is just one option that is still safe and secure when it comes to link building, that is using directories. Directories are usually human edited and are categorised based on either the type of website, or the content the website is related to.

It has become essential for search engine optimizers to know which directories to register with and which ones to ignore, even directories have their hierarchy based on their importance and their importance with Google, there are so many directories online today, that even Google has been forced to keep checks on which websites are actually genuine directory submission sites, and which ones are just a way of selling high page rank links. In fact the same applies for search engine optimizers, they have to keep a tab of which directories they can trust, and work with; and which ones are no longer in the good graces of Google. There is a simple thumb rule when it comes to directory submissions, search engine optimizers prefer going with human edited directory services, not only do the directory editors have the best category in mind, it also means the directory service means business as they have invested in an editorial staff.

Before a webmaster submits a site with any directory submission service, the webmaster must keep the following things in mind:

a) Check the credibility of the web directory, and makes sure that it has been around for a couple of years or so, newer directories can have high page ranks, and can offer good links to search engine optimizers, but without verifying how credible the directory is, it would be rather pointless spending money on the directory submission, and later realising that the site has been blacklisted by Google, or Yahoo.

b)Make sure that the page rank of the category being targeting is high and not the page rank of the entire web site; this is a common error search engine optimizers make, they assume that since a directory's home page has high page rank it will automatically mean that entire site will have a high page rank this is not always true.

List of top directories on the internet

Yahoo Directory

Apart from DMOZ the only other directory that is really important is the Yahoo directory, a webmaster has to consider submission with the Yahoo directory, in fact many webmasters have openly criticized the fact that yahoo actually charges an exorbitant $299 for submitting commercial or even semi-commercial sites in its directory. Sure Yahoo has a free of charge submission option as well, but it can take up to 3-4 months for a link to show up, and even then there is not guarantee that a site will be accepted. That is exactly why webmasters feel that the $299 is nothing short of blackmail, whatever may be said, there is no denying that Yahoo Directory submission is second only to DMOZ submission, and any serious search engine optimization effort has to consider Yahoo directory submission.

An Effective Cardio Workout That Torches Body Fat

An Effective Cardio Workout That Torches Body Fat
The Traditional Cardio Workout Programs

There are two main cardio workouts that most aerobic exercise is based around...low intensity and high intensity. The more popular of the two for burning body fat is the low intensity version, since it has been proven that a higher percentage of calories burned come from body fat than high intensity cardio workouts.

Although low intensity cardio is effective at burning calories directly from body fat, high intensity cardio burns many more total calories. One method for losing body fat is to burn more total calories throughout the day than what is eaten...high intensity cardio is much more effective at accomplishing this. So we have dilemma choosing between the two approaches. Let's look into this.

The Popular Low Intensity Cardio Workout

Low intensity cardio is the most popular form of cardio and is pushed by many personal trainers. Low intensity cardio works at targeting body fat and that is why it is recommended by many personal trainers. University studies have proven low intensity cardio uses fat calories instead of burning muscle carbohydrate calories for energy. If the body burns fat for energy, you will lose body fat. It just makes sense.

Pick cardio equiptment that has a built in heart rate monitor. You want to do this to insure that you hit the ideal intensity level. It will take about 10 minutes to reach your target heart rate and at that point you will want to stay in that zone for about 30 minutes.

The High Intensity Cardio Workout

This is a less utilized form of cardio. High intensity training involves pushing past your pain threshold a bit, so fewer people choose this route. This cardio method can give great results in burning body fat if done properly. The total calories burned in high intensity cardio are greater than low intensity cardio. Some of those calories come from your body fat and some come from glycogen (carbohydrates stores within your muscles).

When you burn more calories in your cardio workout than what you consume, you create a calorie deficit. If you burn a more calories during the day than what you eat in food, you will lose weight.

The Limitations of the 2 Types of Cardio Workouts

It takes about 10 minutes to get your heart rate into the fat burning zone, with the low intensity cardio workout. It is great once you reach this point, but those first 10 minutes or so are kind of a waste of time.

Very few people have the pain tolerance to push hard for more than 10-15 minutes. This is the challenge with high intensity cardio...it is miserable after 15 minutes!

A Great Cardio Workout That Combines Both Levels of Intensity

Since the first 10 minutes of a low intensity cardio workout is unproductive, you are going to start out at a high intensity level. You will burn a ton of total calories for the first 10 minutes now, instead of wasting that time. After 10 minutes, you will back down to low intensity level and now you will burn a ton of body fat. The best of both worlds!

Find a treadmill or exercise bike and set it at a high level. Push yourself really hard for 10-15 minutes. Once you are really working up a sweat, switch to a low intensity and keep it there for 20-30 minutes. This will burn calories and create a calorie deficit as well as burning body fat during the workout. I maintain an 8% body fat percentage year round using this cardio approach.

Use A Deck Of Cards For An Aerobic Workout

Use A Deck Of Cards For An Aerobic Workout
The Deck of Cards.

The first time I heard about this was an in article about Clive (Iron Fist) Myers. It was one of his favourite routines.

The idea is very easy to put into practise and will help build stamina, strength and energy. All you need is a deck of cards and some space to exercise. You could do this routine while on vacation if you want to maintain peak fitness.

First you need to decide on 3 exercises to do 1. Chest 2. Legs 3. Abdominals.
1. push ups.
2. Free standing squats.
3. Crunches.

Each exercise will be done in strict form with no cheating.

For the push ups, start in the low position and push up with slow steady motion until the top of the movement and then slowly lower back down under control. Breathe in as you go down and in as you push back up. This is one rep.

Free standing squats, fold your arms across your chest and perform deep knee bends slowly, under full control. At the bottom of the movement push with your thighs and come back to the top position. Breathe in as you go down and out as you come up.

Crunches, start by lying on your back on the floor with your feet on a bench or chair. Hold your hands beside your head (NOT BEHIND). Raise your upper body from the floor as high as you can. Breathe out as you raise and in as you lower your upper body. Do not hold you hands behind your head and pull as this will put excessive strain on your neck.

Now take the deck of cards including the jokers. Give it a good shuffle and turn over the top card. Whatever the value of this card is the number of reps for the exercise. Face card values
Jack 11
Queen 12
King 13
Ace 14
Joker 15
With each card you turn over, do that amount of reps for the exercise, and then turn the next card over and move onto the next exercise.

When you are starting you may be unable to do a full deck of cards. No problem. Start with the number cards up to the eight. Add one more card at the beginning of each workout until you can use the full deck.

Make sure to breathe regularly as you perform these exercises and do not hold your breath at any time.

Shuffle the deck of cards each time you work out as the will randomize the number of each exercise.
You can change the exercises if you are unable to do the ones recommended. There are a multitude of variations on free standing exercises that can be performed with little or no equipment. If you do change the exercises try to do one upper, one middle and one lower body exercise.

The main idea is that you move from one exercise to the next as quickly as possible to keep up your heart rate and build up aerobic endurance.

When you have done this routine for a while you will be able to complete this workout in 20 minutes. If you want to you could add another deck of cards or two.

I recommend that you do this routine every other day to improve your health. There is no reason why it could not be done daily if you wanted to.

The purpose of this workout or any other fitness program you undertake is to make you fitter and healthier. If you start to feel unwell or have any pain while working out, slow down and listen to your body.

As with any new program it is recommended that you start slowly and build up gradually as you gain experience. Even Arnold had to start with low weights and learn from more experienced bodybuilders.

This article is provided as entertainment and no responsibility can be taken for loss or injuries incurred during physical exercise. If you have not undertaken any form of exercise for a while, please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program.

Fitness is not a competition with anyone else. It is just for you, so find what you enjoy and go have some fun.

Home Gyms - Lose The Excuses, Lose the Weight!

Home Gyms - Lose The Excuses, Lose the Weight!
If you're one of the many people who are hearing from their doctors that they need to: lose weight, lower their cholesterol, and get more active in order to decrease their risk of various diseases, then it's time to pay attention. There are many ailments that can be largely prevented by maintaining a healthy weight and fitness level.

One way to control weight is to make exercise a habit. This increases the metabolism, which helps burn calories. But with today's busy and hectic lifestyles, how do you incorporate regular exercise into your busy day? How will you know if the exercise you do is effective enough to be worth it?

The right exercise equipment, provided you are disciplined enough to use it, may help. There are advantages and disadvantages to owning your own machine(s). Exercise equipment that is personally owned and kept indoors removes the excuse of not having enough time to get to the gym, or enough money to keep up with health club membership payments. It also enables you to work out on your own schedule, instead of getting to the gym before they close, or wanting to work out before they open. For those whom it matters to, it's your equipment, which you don't have to share with hundreds of other people, or worry about disinfecting before each use (although keeping your equipment reasonably clean is important!).

Possible disadvantages of investing in your own exercise equipment is that because it's at home with you, you might just get used to it being there, like another piece of furniture. Too often, exercise machines end up being used more as objects to drape air-dry clothes across, or dust-catchers, than instruments of heart disease prevention. Another con may be that you don't understand how to use the item, and with no instructors or trainers around, like at a health club, you end up injuring yourself or not using the equipment at all because you don't know how to use it properly.

Another potential disadvantage is lack of variety. At a workout facility, you have the choice of many different kinds of equipment to exercise all your different muscles. Weight bearing, aerobic, anaerobic, land, aquatic, you name it, it's not necessary to limit yourself. When you buy exercise equipment, each machine will usually only serve limited functions. If you need a different kind of exercise on alternate days, for example, to stick to your prescribed fitness routine, you may have to either buy other equipment or go outside to run or do another sport -- and in inclement weather, that may become another excuse not to work out.

A great way to get around the problem of too little variety is to look for machines that will provide a number of exercises to meet your health needs. For example, the bowflex treadclimber combines a treadmill and climber in one. So you get an comprehensive cardiovascular workout with only one machine. If the bowflex climber is outside your price range ($1,500 to $2,200 for the high end models) new, look around for a used machine. Or look at other types of machines.

The most important thing is to give up the excuses. After all, there is no excuse that feels as good as being in shape!

In today’s world, everything is big, cars, clothes, and food portions. Fast food places push their super sized menu items, and this contributes to the three quarters of the world being overweight to some degree. In restaurants around the country, it is not a complete meal unless you have at least three courses, and then dessert. In some instances, the portions are huge.

When you learn how to control the portions that you eat, you will be able to control what you consume. This will lead to weight loss.

The type of foods that you eat will also determine if you will lose weight.
